To get started simply fill out our FREE TRAIL FORM and LeashTime Support Staff will do the rest. Once we have set up an account for you, you can start using LeashTime immediately. We’ll guide you through the first steps, entering your sitters and service types, along with client charge and sitter pay information. Then entering a client or two can give you a good idea how the service works.
When you are ready to “go live”, let us know; you can continue using the information you have been using or we can wipe the slate clean for you. We can also import your old data for you if you want – just contact Leashtime Support.
Yes. Providing clients with a login name and password allows instant access to their personal account. Clients may request, cancel and change visits.
LeashTime allows you to enter a deadline by which clients must make all visit change requests online (e.g. 24 hours beforehand). Clients will not be prohibited from making the request, but they will be warned that the request may not be honored.
Yes. After logging in, your client can click on PROFILE and make any necessary changes. The client would then clicks Submit Change Request for review and acceptance by the manager.
Yes. If you have enabled the Account access preference setting for clients, they will be able to edit their credit card information online.
Yes. But you can set an option within LeashTime to not show clients this information if you choose not to. This must be enabled with the Account access preference setting.
Yes. Your invoices can be configured to include a link that will take the client to a PayPal payment page with the amount owed.
Yes. Our preferred partner for electronic transactions is TransFirst through their Transaction Express Gateway. We do also support Authorize.net and Sage gateways. For any of the gateways, you need to get your merchant authorization credentials and enter them into LeashTime to process transactions. You can charge client credit cards yourself or your clients can make payments themselves online.
LeashTime has its own billing system that tracks the completion status and payment status of every visit, so you don’t need to use Quickbooks.
Yes, you have the option of allowing clients to login to LeashTime where they can request new schedules and request visit cancellations and changes. These requests appear immediately on your Home page and you can arrange to be notified of requests by email as well.
Yes! You can create a client login by going to the Basic Info tab in your client’s profile and clicking the button next to System Login. This will allow you to create a unique user name and password for the client.

That is correct, there are no “work orders” in LeashTime. You schedule visits. You set a billing cycle (e.g. end of every month). LeashTime will automatically create all the billable items on your invoice during the billing period.
We are happy to migrate client and pet data from most pet sitting software and Quickbooks for you. The transfer service is free of charge and usually only takes us a day or two. Sorry, we are not able to import client schedules, services and custom fields from other systems. Please contact us at LeashTime Support with any further questions regarding the transfer of data.
Yes, we will train you on how to use the system. There are no limits on the amount of training that you can receive. Besides our online training videos and other materials, we offer individual online training using GoToMeeting.
As soon as you save changes to a schedule, LeashTime offers you an email composer where you can type a note, which will be sent along with the calendar of visits for that schedule. LeashTime offers several other ways to send schedule confirmations as well.
Key check in and check out is simple. Enter a key’s ID in the Search box, complete the key check-in or check-out using the resulting form, and give the key to the sitter. Or you can use the Check-In and Check-out options in the KEYS menu.
LeashTime lets you reassign visits in several different ways, depending on your context. In a visit list, click the service name on a visit which will expand to reveal options to change the visit. Choose a new sitter and click Done. If you need to reassign all visits from one sitter to multiple sitters for a single day, go the Home page, click the “Reassign Visits” option from the SCHEDULE menu, and you can drag visits from one sitter to another.
Recurring or Ongoing schedules are set up in such a way that the system keeps adding new visits to the client’s schedule according to a pattern that you set up with an easy-to-use Ongoing Schedule Editor.
Once a schedule is set up, LeashTime creates visits to populate it a specified number of days into the future. Then each day the System automatically adds new visits to the end of the schedule as needed.
While we have taken every precaution to ensure 100% up time, there may be times when the system is down. There are two points of failure: our server or your browser. Our server has been unavailable less than a handful of times in the last eight years. However, your internet service provider may experience outages or slowdowns that cause difficulty getting to the LeashTime site. In either event, LeashTime has tools for emailing daily schedules out automatically so that you can conduct business while waiting to get back online.
Yes. Select a client profile and click the Home Info tab. Check the “No Key Required” box. No key information will be associated with that client.

LeashTime will send a copy of the schedule (and total cost) to the client and sitter for the date range you specified. The default setting is for clients to receive the schedule in a calendar view and the sitter to receive it in list view. You may change these settings so that individual clients and sitters will get schedules in their preferred view (calendar or list) in the Communications Preferences.
Yes, in the client’s profile is a Communications tab which logs each outbound email communication (along with other notifications, requests and communications).
Yes. There are multiple methods to email sitters. The simplest way is to bring up the sitter’s profile, go to the Communication tab and click on Compose Email.
You can also have LeashTime email sitters their schedules automatically on a daily or weekly basis, and there are many other specialized sitter emails that LeashTime makes it easy to send.
Yes, they can. By default your email is sent from LeashTime’s mail server and every message has your email address in the “Reply To” field. This works is most cases to let your clients reply automatically to your email account. But you can make sure you get all of your clients’ responses by configuring LeashTime to send email from your own mail server. We can help you set that up.
At present, the answer is NO. While you may send emails from within LeashTime, responses to those emails will go to your normal email client.
Every visit in LeashTime has a log history, which shows creation the dates and times of visit creation and all modifications and cancellations, and shows who was responsible for each action. Virtually all of the actions that change a visit are recorded. To see the visit log history, click the magnifying glass next to the visit and scroll all the way to the bottom right corner and click History.
Yes. From the menu, go to KEYS > Sitter Keys, and select the sitter’s name. A list of all keys in that sitter’s possession will be displayed. Use the “Transfer To” field to move the keys to new sitters.
Yes, LeashTime keeps a rolling 7 day backup of your data. The backups are done around midnight (EST) every night. If you have made no changes since the backup, then restoring is easy and straightforward.
